                         In the dissertation work, a scientific and applied problem is solved – the

                  regularities  of  corrosion  cracking  of  steel  of  main  gas  pipelines  under  their

                  cathodic  protection  are  established,  the  solution  of  which  expands  the

                  understanding  of  the  mechanism  of  stress  corrosion  cracking  of  main  gas

                  pipelines, which makes it possible to scientifically substantiate approaches to the

                  choice of methods for its prevention.

                         The methodology of studies of susceptibility of pipe steel (on the example

                  of X70 steel) to corrosion cracking in the conditions of cathodic protection was

                  offered  and  scientifically  grounded.  The  procedure  consists  in  modeling  the

                  factors  present  on  a  main  gas  pipeline  during  its  operation  in  laboratory

                  conditions (contact with a corrosive environment, applied protective potential,

                  accumulated  cycles  of  stress  changes,  simulating  long-term  operation  of  a

                  pipeline, presence of stress concentrator, protective coatings, etc.), studies and
