The Institute is the developer of advanced technologies in the field of the physicochemical fracture mechanics and materials strength, metal corrosion and its corrosion protection, non-destructive testing and diagnostics of the properties of materials, environments and constructions.

Non-destructive testing and technical diagnostics are necessary tools for proving safe operation of structures. Institute researchers perform testing of the responsible equipment of power generating, building, oil-and gas- transport systems with the aim of timely protection of heir failure. To perform material testing and assessing the researchers of the Institute had developed equipment and methods most of which are unique.     Investigation of both large-scale and precision elements in aggressive and dangerous environments that maximum approach the working media are performed, namely: tensile testing of pipes under high gas pressures (above 100 atm) and temperatures, testing related with suplhide hydrogen effect on characteristics of metal parts of constructions, assessment of very sensitive characteristics as the process zone for prediction of the structure serviceability. Our new methods and equipment allow to restore very expensive equipment by means of electric-arc spraying, and also to extend life time by application of corrosion- and wear-resistant titanium, oxide ceramic, nanocrystal coatings. Developments are carried to various classes of materials. The Institute also offers protect surfaces using special varnishing and painting covers after the previous waterjet cleaning.     Special equipment for repairing and preventive works in especially complex conditions is available in the Institute. The range of rendered services is very wide : from protection of oil storage capacities to restoration and protection of the internal surfaces of steam boilers. More details

Using the injection technologies that use liquid polyurethane compositions it is possible to heal crack-like defects and quickly restore the strength and serviceability of concrete, iron-concrete and brick constructions. The technology of reinforcement permanent connection for capital constructions is proposed.     In this direction developments are carried out on the basis of sound fundamental investigations, introduction results demonstrate very good results. The increase of capital construction especially with application of frame-monolithic method, the proposed technologies are very prospective. More details

In the Institute works the “Laboratory of certification testing of corrosion-resistant pipeline coatings” that supports the introduced quality system according to the requirements of Standard ISO/IÅC 17025 with account of requirements of Standard ISO 9001 and field of activity.
